This year marks the 30-year anniversary of the day that changed Australia forever. The Port Arthur massacre is still seared into the hearts and memories of every Australian, and no more so than Walter Mikac who, after losing his wife and two young daughters in the tragedy, founded The Alannah & Madeline Foundation.  Driven by the belief that all children and young people should be able to live a happy and safe life that’s free from violence and trauma, the Foundation has grown from strength to strength.  

Over A Decade of Support 

Avid supporters of the Foundation for over more than a decade – The Chocolateries is proud to have raised more than $500,000 through various initiatives including our Giant Lollipop Making experiences, our specially crafted Hop for Hope Coins, and our always on Donation Tins. We also donate our ChocBuddy Bottles to the Foundation’s Buddy Bag Program. We believe that every contribution, no matter how small, helps to make a meaningful difference.

Making for a Better Future – Giant Lollipop Making   

In the lead up to Alannah & Madeline Day each year, The Chocolateries host Giant Lollipop Making days. A flurry of fun, a hubbub of happy noise, and oodles of chocolate creating and decorating joy, join the team at The Chocolateries to raise funds for a better future for the thousands of Australian children in violent and unsafe circumstances. 

For every Giant Lollipop made, we donate 50% to The Alannah & Madeline Foundation.

Two Sides To Every Coin – Hop for Hope Coins

A Buddy In Need is a Buddy Indeed – Our ChocBuddy Bottles    

Every year, around 11,000 children and young people across Australia are taken into the care of child protection authorities because they are at serious risk of harm or have no other safe place to live.  

These experiences can leave children and young people feeling scared and alone. The Alannah & Madeline Foundation provides Buddy Bags to help provide a sense of security and comfort as the first steps on their journey to safety and recovery are taken. At The Chocolateries for every ChocBuddy Bottle purchased, we donate another to The Alannah & Madeline Foundation’s Buddy Bag program.
